Sunset Qigong & Sound Bath

Saturday 7 November · 15:00–19:00 ·

Food Partnership Clubhouse , South Downs National Park near Brighton

Anyone who wants to move, breathe and rest deeply — whether you're a seasoned Qigong practitioner or have never tried it. The movement is accessible and scalable; the sound bath is passive. If you can stand and lie down, you can do this.

Particularly suited to people managing stress, burnout, chronic pain or fatigue; those recovering from injury or surgery; and anyone who wants a genuinely restorative afternoon rather than another workout.

A four-hour journey through Shaolin Qigong and healing sound — timed so your practice lands exactly as the sun sets over the South Downs, and the gongs carry you into dusk.

Move with the light. Rest in the sound.

The Host

Rhys Rogers

Qigong Instructor

a physiotherapist of 18 years and a Shaolin Qigong teacher, most recently teaching at Shaolin Temple UK under Grandmaster Shifu Yanzi. I combine Western physiotherapy with traditional Shaolin Qigong so the practice is as intelligent for your body as it is rooted in tradition.

Sound Bath Practitioner

Crystal

Specialist in gong and singing-bowl sound baths and other healing instruments, crafting immersive soundscapes to calm the nervous system, quiet the mind and enable deep rest. She plays through sunset into dusk, carrying the day-to-night transition with sound.

What to expect

A slow, deliberate arc from movement into deep rest — timed to the light.

  • 15:15 - Arrival & welcome — settle in, lay out your mat, meet the group

  • 15:30 - Guided meditation with sound — 30 minutes to arrive in the body and set an intention

  • 16:00 - Shaolin Qigong — 60 minutes of movement, breath and standing practice, slowing as the light softens

  • 17:00 - Transition — lie down, wrap up, let go

  • 17:07 - Sound bath — 45 minutes of gongs and singing bowls. Sunset at 17:22 falls inside the sound, and dusk arrives held by vibration rather than silence

  • 17:52 - Tea & rest — warm tea, blankets, and time to surface slowly

Timings are approximate and may flex with the group.

Uniqueness

  • Two qualified practitioners, one continuous journey — physiotherapy-informed movement handing over to professional sound work, with no awkward gap between.

  • Timed to the sunset — the Qigong ends as the sound bath begins, and the sun sets at 17:22 inside the sound bath. You won't find this timing anywhere else.

  • A panoramic venue at the top of the South Downs - Wide window view for sunset,  big sky, and a view that does half the work.

  • Small group — capped at 20 so there's space to move and room to rest.

  • Physio-informed cueing — Rhys teaches with an eye on lower back, shoulders and neck, so the practice is safe for bodies with a history.

Bring with you.

  • Yoga mat

  • Warm blanket (essential — you'll be lying still through dusk)

  • Pillow or cushion

  • Water bottle

  • Warm layers

Please note: The sound bath involves strong vibration and sustained sound. Please get in touch before booking if you are pregnant, have epilepsy, have a pacemaker or metal implants, or use a hearing aid. If you're unsure, ask — we'd rather have the conversation.

Book your space to recharge this autumn and leave feeling renewed.

The monks didn’t practice this for "exercise."

They used it to heal, fight, and transcend.

Will you honor the tradition?
